A part-time MBA is not good for your waistline

Well, I just got the Microeconomics mid-term exam paper back.

Not good.

I did above average for my OB mid-term the week before. But the Microeconomics mid-term was below average.

So what does that mean? Did I not understand the subject matter?

The trouble with courses like Microeconomics is that they are not really mathematical subjects. But neither are they are soft, subjective courses like OB.

So when you are asked to explain some microeconomic phenomena, it is difficult to decide how mathematical you should be or how rigorous a proof you need to offer. Or whether you should just blah blah it away…

In other words, there is a method to answering a microeconomics exam. A method I have not fully learned.

So how does that tie in with today’s subject?

Nothing really. Call it artistic license :-)

But it is true that after several weeks of attending classes, I am beginning to realize that this whole MBA thing is bad for one’s health.

For one, I am usually a very active person and seldom sit down during weekends. I am either doing stuff with one of the cars or running to Fry’s or doing some project or other. With the MBA, I am spending all Saturday sitting down in class. That is about 8 hours of sitting down. Even more sitting that the average workday.

In addition, I spend another 4-5 hours on Sunday doing homework and reading. All sitting down.

I’ve got most of the study versus job versus life worked out. But I am missing out on the exercise. So back to the drawing board.
