Music, teenagers and cool/uncool

Apr 16 2007 Published by Ben Chong under The Daily Geek

Music and teenagers are like twins. Never one without the other. You know your baby has become a teenager when she asks you to turn on the radio the moment she gets into the car.

Some “progressive” parents may feel that by listening to and enjoying the same music, they can create a better bond with their teenagers.

But be warned, parents can easily cross the limit of coolness.

For example, it is fine to listen to a new album that your teen just bought.

It is not so cool when you buy and start wearing the band T-shirt.

The band becomes completely uncool when you start playing their songs on the guitar.
