This was my 1971 Volkswagen Bus. I bought it in May 2000 with the intention of doing a restoration. I got as far as removing the seats and carpeting. But then my job got more interesting (busy) after that, so I stopped the restoration work and the bus ended up sitting in my driveway since then.
I ended up selling it off.
The bus comes with the owner's manual, the Bentley workshop manual, John Muir's book and a VW workshop manual for body repairs.
The engine runs. The body is straight. No rust through on body panels. I drove the bus home after I bought it last year.
I started removing the floor mats and seats. I still have the seats and all the hardware and other trim pieces. I have thrown away the floor mats. The intake grill on the nose was removed when the photo was taken, but I have put it back. There is no VW emblem on the nose. There are two bench seats at the back with 2 individual seats in front.
The bus is registered as non-operational. However, you can get a permit to drive it in order to bring it home, if necessary. Also, the bus has a salvage title.
I bought the bus from an immigrant family who had been using the bus as family transportation before they upgraded to a Dodge Caravan.
Defects:
A vehicle that is 30 years old is not without defects.
Rust spots include : over the rear passenger side wheel arch, under the battery, on the cab floor pan, in a dent on the nose in front of the driver, in a few spots at the rear.
There is a 2-4" of rust repair under the windscreen on the driver's side and a paint over on the body panel behind the driver which may hide some bondo repairs.
Mileage:
I honestly don't know
